Businessowners Policy

Many small to medium size businesses today qualify for a Businessowners policy which combines a wide range of coverages, including property, liability, business interruption, and crime. Some of the businesses which may be eligible for a Businessowners policy include retail, office, restaurants, motels, condominiums, apartments, and contractors.

Property Insurance

It is essential for most businesses to have insurance protecting their interests in buildings and personal property. In many cases the interest of the insured is an ownership interest. However, in some cases the insured may lease either buildings or personal property, and be required under the terms of the lease to insure the property for the owner. The insured may also have possession of the property of others for which coverage is needed. For most businesses, the income and expense exposure associated with their property is as important as the direct property damage loss exposure. The existence of the business may be threatened if the exposure is not properly evaluated and insured.

Additional policies are available to protect tools and equipment which move from place to place. Special limits of coverage may be needed to protect your valuable papers or accounts receivable. Electronic Data policies are available to protect the equipment, data, and media.

Business Insurance

Liability Insurance

Should your business be held legally liable for bodily injury or property damage to a third party, you will need liability insurance for the coverage as well as the defense costs associated with a lawsuit. The basic general liability policy will cover bodily injury, property damage, personal injury or advertising injury. Medical payments, regardless of fault, are also included within this policy form. Examples of additional liability policies are liquor liability, aircraft liability, pollution liability, employment practices liability, to name a few.

Umbrella Liability

As your business grows, so does the need to obtain additional liability insurance to protect your business assets. Our insurers offer this additional protection in the form of an umbrella or excess liability policy.

Employment Practices Liability

Your general liability policy will not provide coverage for the business in the event of an employment related claim due to discrimination, wrongful termination or sexual harassment. One of our agents can help you obtain a quote to protect your business from this type of lawsuit.

Commercial Automobile

Coverage for your commercial automobile will include liability, medical payments, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, comprehensive and collision. Additional coverages available include hired and non-owned coverage, hired physical damage, and drive other car coverage. Our staff will assist you in determining what types of coverages are necessary for your specific operations.

Workers' Compensation

Most states will require that a business owner carry some form of workers' compensation insurance. This policy protects the employee in the event of an injury while on the job and provides a certain degree of immunity from a lawsuit by an injured employee. Our agency will work with you to help you understand your premium and how you may be able to control the costs associated withmeeting workers' compensation. Bonds

Traditional insurance is designed to compensate the insured against unforeseen adverse losses. A surety bond is designed to prevent loss by ensuring that an obligation is fulfilled. Since a bond is underwritten with no expectation of loss, the premium is primarily for prequalification (underwriting) services. We write contract bonds as well as non-contract bonds such as License and Permit, ERISA, Notary, Business Service and Indemnity to Sheriff. We also write Court and Fiduciary, Public Official, Crime and other License and Permit obligations.
